Chief Warrant Officer Sheer enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from Daleville, Alabama on 14 September 2003. He reported to Marine Corps Depot Parris Island South Carolina and was assigned to Lima Co, 3nd Recruit Training Battalion. Upon graduation, Private Sheer reported to Marine Combat Training Battalion Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Upon graduation in February of 2004, Private Sheer was transferred to Marine Corps Communication Electronic School 29 Palms, CA where he was promoted to the rank of Private First Class in March of 2004. He served as a student until his promotion to Lance Corporal in November 2004.

Upon graduation in December 2004, Lance Corporal Sheer reported to 2d Maintenance Battalion, Electronic Maintenance Company where he served as a Computer/Telephone repair technician. In August 2005, Lance Corporal Sheer was augmented to Combat Logistics Battalion 2 and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 04-06. While on deployment, he was promoted to Corporal in November 2005. In April 2006, Corporal Sheer was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Support Company as permanent personnel. In February 2007, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08. Corporal Sheer was promoted to Sergeant in October 2007 during the deployment.

In January 2008, Sergeant Sheer reported to Marine Corps Communication Electronic School 29 Palms, CA as a Basic Electronic Course Instructor. While attending Sergeant’s Course, he was selected as the Honor Graduate for his class. In 2010, Sergeant Sheer became a Master rated instructor and was selected as the Master Instructor of the year. After being selected for promotion, he attended Career Course February 2011 and graduated as a distinguished graduate. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in May 2011.

Staff Sergeant Sheer received orders to the Advanced Electronics Course where he was selected as Honor Graduate. He was also selected as Honor Graduate for the Electronic Maintenance Technician Course. SSgt Sheer received orders to 3d Intelligence Battalion in April 2012 where he served as the Systems Maintenance Section Head of Systems Support Platoon. During his tour, Staff Sergeant Sheer received his Associates of Applied Science in Applied Technology from Central Texas College in December 2013.

In May 2015, Staff Sergeant Sheer attended the Basic Recruiter Course and graduated in the top ten percent of his class. He was assigned to Recruiting Station Orlando, Recruiting Substation New Port Richey, FL in August 2015. Upon selection to Warrant Officer, he attended the Basic School in January 2016 and the Electronic Maintenance Supervisor Course in June 2016. After graduating, Warrant Officer Sheer checked into Combat Logistics Battalion 3 in July 2016 to serve as the Ground Electronics Maintenance Officer for the Intermediate Maintenance Activity. He received his commission during his promotion to Chief Warrant Officer 2 in August 2017. In June 2018, Chief Warrant Officer Sheer transferred to 3rd Radio Battalion where he served as the Ground Electronics Maintenance Officer, Electronics Maintenance Platoon and the assistant S-4 officer.

In June 2019, he transferred to Air Control Training Squadron where he currently serves as the Training Officer for the Terminal Equipment Training Section.

Chief Warrant Officer Sheer’s personal awards include the Navy Commendation medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service medal. He is married to Christina Sheer and has one child, Andrew (2).
