Colonel Broome currently serves as the Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School, responsible for the training of all Marines in communication, ground electronic repair, aviation command and control, and ground-based air defense Military Occupational Specialties. His recent assignments include Compliance Branch Chief – Information, Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (IC4), Headquarters Marine Corps, and the Commanding Officer, Marine Wing Communications Squadron-28, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing.
Colonel Broome entered the Service as an enlisted Marine in 1986. Selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program, he received his commission in 1997. He is a career Communications Marine and Officer, providing command and control capabilities to Marine forces deployed globally. He deployed as a Communications Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 04-06 and deployed to Afghanistan as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-6, 2d Marine Logistics Group in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2011.
His joint assignment was with the U.S. Central Command, J6 Directorate. He served as Chief of the Director’s Strategy Group and Executive Officer to the J6/Chief Information Officer, responsible for the execution of leader engagements with partner nation officials and senior officers throughout the Middle East, and Joint Cyber Center Plans Branch Chief, planning offensive cyber operations.
His operational assignments include service with all four elements of the Marine Expeditionary Force in a variety of communications, networking, and cyber defense billets. His supporting assignments include service with Marine Barracks Washington, D.C. (8th & I); Marine Forces Reserve G-6; Support Branch, Manpower Management; and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
Colonel Broome is an honor graduate of Communication / Information Systems Officer Course, a distinguished graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the Army War College, graduated summa cum laude from Strayer University, and is a Joint Qualified Officer. His professional military education also includes Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School, Advanced Communications Officer Course, Joint Combined Warfare School, and Space Operations Course. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration, and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies.
