Mr. Bryan Scurry became the second Executive Director for Commander, Naval Air Forces in June, 2015. Mr. Scurry directly supports the Commander, Naval Air Forces who is responsible for the Navy’s 11 aircraft carriers, 3800 Navy and Marine Corps aircraft and over 100,000 professionals supporting our Naval Air Forces.
Prior SES tours include Director of Mission Architecture and Systems Engineering at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) and Head of the Command and Control Department at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific (SSC Pacific). Mr. Scurry was selected to the Senior Executive Service in January 2012.
In 2009, Mr. Scurry served as the Deputy Department Head for Communications, Networks, and Information Assurance at SSC Pacific. In 2005, Scurry was assigned to the Program Executive Office for Space Systems as the Director of Operations, Technical Director and Deputy PEO/Executive Director, SPAWAR Space Field Activity. In 1996, Mr. Scurry joined the Navy Command and Control program office. He finished this tour as the Deputy Program Manager leading multiple ACAT I, II and III programs. In January 1995, he oversaw the initial concept definition of air to ground weapons systems developed by the Navy, his first assignment upon entering Civilian Service at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, China Lake.
Mr. Scurry was commissioned a Naval Officer in 1984 and designated as a Naval Aviator in 1986. From 1987 to 1990, he completed multiple deployments with Attack Squadron (VA-185) onboard the USS MIDWAY (CV 41). From 1990 to 1995, he was assigned to the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, China Lake, where he oversaw the development, integration, and testing of advanced weapon technology.
Mr. Scurry graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering and from California State University, Northridge with a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Personal recognition includes the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medals, and various civilian and military campaign, service, personal, and team awards. He has accrued more than 1,900 flight hours and 330 carrier arrested landings.
