Profile
Nathan Michael is Shield AI’s Chief Technology Officer and Head of the Hivemind Business Unit. He leads the development and deployment of Hivemind, Shield AI’s modular, platform-agnostic mission autonomy software that enables Shield AI and its partners to rapidly develop, test, and field autonomy at scale. He brings deep expertise in AI and autonomy engineering, built over a career spanning extensive publications on control, perception, and multi-robot systems, and years leading advanced research programs at Carnegie Mellon University. Before joining Shield AI, Nathan was an Associate Research Professor at Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute, where he directed the Resilient Intelligent Systems Lab.
