MGen (Ret’d) Dave Wheeler is Director, USA Operations
and Aerospace Business Development at the Canadian
Commercial Corporation (CCC). He is responsible for
managing the defence relationship, including business
development, with the Government of the United-States
of America, as well as Aerospace business development
worldwide.
Prior to this role, Mr. Wheeler served a distinguished 33-
year career in the Canadian Armed Forces retiring as a
Major General. He held multiple senior-level positions,
most recently as Deputy Vice Chief of the Defence Staff in
2017.
Mr. Wheeler joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1984
following the completion of a Bachelor of Education
degree from the University of New Brunswick. He
graduated from Air Command and Staff College in
Montgomery, Alabama where he also completed a Master
of Public Administration from Auburn University. He also
attended the Advanced Military Studies Programme and
the National Securities Programme both at Canadian
Force College Toronto. A fighter pilot by trade, he has
accumulated over 4000 hours, with the majority flown on
the CF18.
Mr. Wheeler has completed numerous command tours at
the Squadron, Wing, and Division level, most recently as
Commander 1 Canadian Air Division and Canadian NORAD
Region in Winnipeg. He has conducted overseas tours as
the Deputy Director of the Air Operations Coordination
Cell in ISAF HQ in Afghanistan, and as Director of the
CENTCOM Combined Air Operations Centre in Qatar.
Mr. Wheeler is married to Dorothy and are proud parents
to Holly, Connor, and Clyde.
