Profile

Commander Fagan was born in Bellflower, CA, and graduated from the United States Air Force
Academy in 1999. After receiving his commission, he served three years as an Air Force
Acquisitions Officer at Tinker Air Force Base, OK as Program Manager for modifications to the
E-3 AWACS and C/KC-135 aircraft. In 2003 he transferred into the Navy, completed initial flight
training, and was designated a Naval Aviator in November 2004. After completing Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) training at Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Ten (HS-10) in San Diego, Commander Fagan was assigned to the “Black Knights” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Four (HS-4) from 2005 to 2008. From 2008 to 2012, Commander Fagan served with the “Red Wolves” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Eight Four (HSC-84), in Norfolk, VA. During his tour with HSC-84, he deployed to Iraq four times as part of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Arabian Peninsula, flying 144 combat sorties in direct support of joint coalition special operations forces during Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and NEW DAWN. In 2013, CDR Fagan was assigned to USCYBERCOM, serving as Joint Exercise Division Deputy Chief and Lead Planner for joint coalition cyberspace exercises. Since 2016, CDR Fagan has been serving as the Executive Officer and then Commanding Officer of Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School Pacific. CDR Fagan holds a Master of Aeronautical Science degree in Space Studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, as well as a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
Commander Fagan’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike
Flight Air Medal (seven awards), Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement
Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal (two awards), Navy
Expert Rifle and Pistol Medals, as well as various campaign and unit awards. Commander Fagan lives in Coronado, CA with his wife, Kyra.
