 Press Releases

  • NEW YORK, February 3, 2023 - Recognizing that cyber threats are not limited to traditional IT datacenters, Garland Technology is working to meet specific requirements for security and monitoring solutions that travel. Fly-away kits or mobile cyber kits that fit in a commercial airplane’s overhead bin are very useful to cyber teams deployed to non-traditional IT network sites. These kits have the hardware and software needed to respond to cyber threats and collect data wherever they are dispatched. Typical items inside a Fly-away kit are network TAPs, servers, network tools (both hardware and software), laptop, cables, and transceivers of all sorts. This allows the team on the ground to plug into the network and act as necessary then head home.

Leveraging a history of successfully engineering new solutions, Garland Technology redesigned its Network Packet Brokers in 3-months to meet the small portable form factor needed to fit inside a Fly-away kit for US Federal government use. Garland Technology created specialty Advanced Aggregators with a 12.76” depth that meet TSA carry-on requirements and are full of the expected features. Now adding packet brokering to Fly-away Kits is possible with Garland’s PacketMAXTM Specialty Aggregators providing aggregation, filtering, and load balancing in chassis exclusively designed for Fly-away Kit applications. With 20 SFP+ ports at 1G/10G network speeds, these Aggregators are an ideal component inside mobile kits used in the field by defense and civilian cyber teams.

“Our PacketMAXTM Specialty Aggregators make cyber kits even more powerful with flexible ports, easy set-up, and the capability to access all of the network packets needed and send to multiple tools in the same kit. Plus, they carry no subscription or license fees similar to our other products,” says Mr. Andy Colaianni, Regional Sales Manager for US Federal at Garland Technology. “We believe our Made in the USA products will continue to help the US Federal government safely get in and out with the needed data faster.”
