Anchor Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to invest in U.S. Surface Navy Families through higher education scholarships to children and spouses of qualified Surface Navy personnel - officer and enlisted. Begun as the SURFLANT scholarship in 1980, Anchor Scholarship Foundation was incorporated in 2004 to include Surface families worldwide. Since our inception, ASF has distributed over $1,500,000 in scholarships to over 1,300 dependents.

  Anchor Scholarship Foundation's Administered Scholarship Program (ASP) creates a formal agreement with our donors, and benefits all concerned - donors, recipients, and Anchor Scholarship Foundation.

  DONOR BENEFITS

  • Increased impact—a larger scholarship can be presented on behalf of you, your organization or family; total donation less 10% administrative fee (ex. $5,000 = $4,500 scholarship, $500 fee)
  • Additional selection criteria—you will have the opportunity to add additional criteria to the basic Anchor Scholarship selection criteria (academic achievement, character, extracurricular and financial need). For example, if you or your organization want the administered scholarship to benefit a liberal arts or STEM student, we would add that to the selection criteria.
  • Increased visibility—we will highlight your scholarship at scholarship fairs, virtual web conferences in press releases, print, and online materials and at our Annual Scholarship Award ceremony.
  • A commitment of multiple years allows the donor to choose whether to award the scholarship annually or as a renewable. Renewables allow donor to commit to one qualified scholar for the duration of their college career. It also facilitates budgeting and planning for philanthropic support.

  RECIPIENT BENEFITS

  • The scholarship will be larger than our standard $3,000 Anchor scholarships. More scholarship money = less overall financial burden for the recipient.
  • Ease of application—the Anchor scholarship application can be submitted for the administered scholarship.

  ASF BENEFITS

  • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlines donor's expectations and ASF’s obligations.
  • Commitment to 2-4 years (negotiable) facilitates better budgeting/planning
  • Establishes ASF as administrator of several Surface Navy scholarships.
