John Savio is a seasoned technology leader with extensive expertise in leading Public Sector software teams and fostering innovation in software solutions. As Executive Director of Public Sector and Defense at Black Duck Software, John leads efforts to help government agencies and systems integrators create software that is secure, of high quality and safe for mission critical applications that support the warfighter. With over three decades of experience, he is passionate about delivering solutions that meet the unique needs of Public Sector clients, combining strategic insight with a deep understanding of technology trends.
John holds a BSME from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a MS in Bioengineering from Clemson University, and a J.D. from Georgia State University. John is also JAG officer in the Georgia State Defense Force in which he provides legal services to the Office of the State Judge Advocate at the Joint Headquarters of the Georgia Army and Air National Guard. He is actively involved in industry events and contributes thought leadership on topics such as software assurance, open-source management, and digital transformation.
