After 9/11 and during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, Navy SEALs made significant counterterrorism contributions—most famously with the raid on the bin Laden compound. But DoD’s shift in focus toward high-end conflict and peer competition reemphasizes the word “naval” in Naval Special Warfare (NSW). Join Rear Admiral Wyman Howard, Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command, and Proceedings editor-in-chief Bill Hamblet for a discussion about how SEAL Teams and Special Boat Units are adapting to the new challenges. ...
