CAPT Alex Campbell, USN

Profile
Captain Alex Campbell was raised in Brattleboro, Vermont. He graduated from The United States Naval Academy in 2002 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in English and has earned designation as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer, Diving and Salvage Officer, Surface Warfare Officer, and Naval Parachutist. Most recently he completed courses of study to earn a Master’s in Business Administration with Honors at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. His operational tours include: 1. Second Division Officer, USS NASHVILLE (LPD-13) 2. Officer In Charge, EOD Mobile Unit TWO, Detachment 24 3. Platoon Commander, EOD Mobile Unit TWELVE, Platoon 12-1-2 4. EOD Officer, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Arabian Peninsula 5. Executive Officer, Operational Support Unit TEN 6. Operations Officer, EOD Mobile Unit TWO 7. Executive Officer, EOD Mobile Unit ONE 8. Commanding Officer, EOD Mobile Unit THREE He has conducted EOD, C-WMD, Diving, Salvage, and Mine Countermeasures operations spanning worldwide deployments, to include support to Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM and NIMBLE SHIELD. Additionally, he is designated as a Defense Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) “Advanced” Program Manager. His staff assignments include the Joint Special Operations Command and Naval Sea Systems Command where he led acquisition teams to develop a wide range of specialized EOD equipment in support of Special Operations Forces, the Joint EOD Force, and Navy Undersea EOD Forces. He was selected to serve as a Chief of Naval Operations Fellow to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He most recently served as Principal Assistant Program Manager for Artificial Intelligence at the Navy’s Project Overmatch. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (two awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon and various service and campaign awards. Captain Campbell is married to Laura Yoon and has three daughters; Amelia, Ingrid, and Solveig.
