Profile

CAPT Greg Mitchell was commissioned from the United States
Naval Academy in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Naval
Architecture. He began his naval career serving as the M-Division
Officer on USS GERMANTOWN (LSD-42) and then as the Main
Propulsion Assistant on USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD-49).
Following his sea tours, CAPT Mitchell laterally transferred to the
Engineering Duty Officer community upon which he held waterfront
tours at Ship Repair Facility Detachment Sasebo, Japan and Supervisor of Shipbuilding
(SUPSHIP), Gulf Coast in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Following these tours, CAPT Mitchell
deployed to Iraq as the program manager for the $1.7 billion Commander's Emergency Response
Program and later served in Egypt as the International Fleet Support Program Office (PMS 326)
Program Manager’s Representative supporting Foreign Military Sales and 36 active cases with
the Egyptian Navy. After, returning from Egypt, he became the Lead Systems Engineer for the
Independence-variant in the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Program Office (PMS 501) leading the
shock qualification efforts required for the Full Ship Shock Trials.

Following his tour in PMS 501, CAPT Mitchell became the Officer-in-Charge of the SUPSHIP
Bath Detachment San Diego, leading government efforts supporting construction of
Expeditionary Sea Base and the lead John Lewis Replenishment Oiler (T-AO-205) ship classes.
Following this tour, he returned to PMS 501 as the Freedom-variant LCS Post Delivery Primary
Assistant Program Manager responsible for fleet introduction efforts. Following this tour, CAPT
Mitchell served on the staff of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Ship Programs as
the Director for Surface Combatants in Washington, DC, until being selected to serve as the
SUPSHIP Gulf Coast Executive Officer. In his current role of Program Manager of U.S. Navy
and Foreign Military Sales Boats and Craft (PMS 300), he oversees an expansive portfolio that
includes everything from agile small boats and combatant craft to specialized service craft and
seaborne targets.

CAPT Mitchell graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Master of Science
in Ocean Systems Management and Naval Engineer's Degree in Naval Construction &
Engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Naval Architecture and Marine
Engineering.

CAPT Mitchell’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service
Medal, and various other personal, service, campaign, and unit awards.
